Bus Services

North and South Beach buses

There are two buses servicing the North and South Beach run by Uzabus/Metlink. Although these are commercial routes 500 and 501, the buses have been allocated to the school for a school run and not for commercial customers.

As this is no longer a free service, payment will need to be made for each journey either by cash ($1.50 each way) or by a green child snapper card. The card costs $10.00 to purchase from the local Eastside Dairy in Elizabeth Street, Waikanae and will require to have money pre-loaded onto the card before the child can use it. The card will need to be activated online, but once done the balance can be viewed or card blocked should the card be lost. You can download the snapper app to top up electronically or go to one of the designated top up stations to put more money on the card.

Until the end of 2019, families can be reimbursed by the Ministry of Education for their child’s travel to and from school, providing they complete a School Transport Assistance form along with proof of bank details including account name, account number, address and bank name. This form can be found at the link below and one form will need to be completed per child. The form should then be returned to school for verification and submittal to the School Transport Department. Reimbursement from the Ministry will be direct into families’ bank account and is done retrospectively at the end of term.

Reikorangi

This is a free rural bus service (funded by the Ministry) operated by Mana Coach Services as a primary/secondary school transport, collecting children from the bus stops along Ngatiawa and Rangiora Road. This service leaves Rangiora at 8.05am and Waikanae School at 3.35pm in the afternoon. In order to be eligible for this bus you need to live in this area. A free bus card can be obtained from the Office that will need to be shown when a student uses this service.

Should you need to drive your child more than 2.4km to the nearest bus stop, then you will eligible for a conveyancing allowance per child, however, a School Transport Assistance form will need to be completed. Proof of bank details including account name, account number, address and bank name will also need to be provided to the Office.
