Bevan has been Principal at Waikanae School since July 1998. Although most of his day is tied up with administration he is still first and foremost a teacher who enjoys working with students. In his role as Principal he gets to do all the good stuff such as going on Outdoor Education Trips.

Michelle graduated and taught in the UK for several years before moving to NZ and joining the staff in February 2009 as a Y4/5 teacher. Michelle was appointed to the role of Syndicate Lead Teacher for Y5/6 in 2010 and also took on the role of Assistant Principal in 2011. Passionate about teaching and learning, Michelle has headed our Science team and now our Maths team to develop pedagogy in our school. Michelle moved into the position of Deputy Principal in 2018 and is the leader of teaching and learning.

With a background in teaching foreign languages at secondary school level, Elizabeth has also held a variety of teaching roles throughout the Kapiti area working with children and teenagers with learning needs, physical health challenges and mental health issues. She took up her role as Learning Support Coordinator at Waikanae School at the beginning of 2016 and is passionate about supporting every student to reach their potential. As the Coordinator of the Asian Languages programme in Kapiti, Elizabeth arranges Mandarin and Japanese programmes for children in schools across the Kapiti Coast.

Tracy is a teacher who is passionate about literacy. Tracy was the Reading Recovery Tutor for 2012 and brings a wealth of expertise in literacy to her role in the junior school. In 2013 Tracy joined the Senior Leadership Team and as from 2019 Tracy will be the Lead Teacher for the New Entrant Teaching Team and the Te Waharua Tahi Sydicate.

Nancy began her teaching at Waikanae School in 1996. She has been a member of the Year 7/8 Team for several years and is now the leader of this team. She is a big time sports fan and coordinates all of our school PE and Sport.

Paul joins our team in 2019 having taught for a number of years at Greytown Primary School (Wairarapa). In 2019 Paul will be the Lead Teacher of the Year 5-6 Teaching Team. We look forward to having him as part of our team.

Bachelor Of Commerce. Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning (Primary)
Katherine completed a Bachelor of Commerce and then headed off on an overseas adventure. She taught in Asia where she discovered her love of teaching. After travelling the world she returned to New Zealand to complete a Postgraduate Diploma of Teaching (Primary). Katherine will be leading our Year Three Four syndicate during 2019 and will work closley with Ellen Johnson in Rooms 18-19

Essie joined Waikanae School from Rata Street School in 2018 teaching a class of Year 5-6 students. In 2019 she will move levels to be the Lead Teacher of the Year 1-2 Teaching Team in Te Waharua Tahi. Essie is also a Leader of our Enviro Schools Initiative.
