  • 2011 December Analysis of the End of Year OTJs in Reading Writing and Maths (3.5 MB)
All students have been given End of Year assessments for Reading, Writing and Maths. The assessments are Overall Teacher Judgements (OTJs) and are the teacher’s judgement as to whether the student is meeting the relevant National Standard for the end of the year. Students were given one of four grades for each area assessed. It is worth noting that for the purposes of Reporting Individual Student Achievement to parents (via the Mid and End of Year Reports) the two grades of Achieving Well Below and Achieving Below were combined into one grade of Achieving Below Standard. They are spilt in this group due to MoE reporting requirements.

  • 2011 November Analysis Of Reading Age Via Running Record November 2011 (2.2 MB)
The achievement data collated in the following graphs has been collected by way of one on one Running Records. The Running Record is a relatively ‘soft’ assessment tool that relies on the teacher’s observations and interpretation of a student’s reading ability in both decoding and comprehension. It is highly effective and widely used through out the Junior School. It is primarily a diagnostic tool for the teaching of reading and its use tends to tail off as students become proficient readers (reading age of 12 years plus).
  • 2011 June July Analysis of the Interim National Standards Judgements in Reading Writing and Maths (2.7 MB)
All students have been given interim assessments for Reading, Writing and Maths as at 12 July. The assessments were based upon the likelihood of the student meeting the relevant National Standard by the end of the year. Students were given one of three grades for each area assessed. • By the end of the year it is likely that the student will be achieving above the National Standard appropriate for either their time at school or year level or • By the end of the year it is likely that the student will be achieving the National Standard appropriate for either their time at school or year level or • By the end of the year it is likely that the student will be still moving towards but not achieving the National Standard appropriate for either their time at school or year level The progress statements were supported by Data Files which contained work samples benchmarked to the appropriate curriculum level for their year level. The Data Files may have also contained other work samples (not benchmarked) of either student/teacher choice. Both the National Standards Progress Statements and work samples were then to be used as the basis for discussion in the 3-Way Student/ Parent/Teacher Interviews held in the last two weeks of Term 4.

  • 2010 E-AsTTle Writing Comparisons (4.6 MB)
Our writing focus for 2010 was a Narrative and while the whole school taught this genre, for the purposes of this report data was only gathered from the students from years 4-8 due restrictions of the e-asTTle tool. Baseline data was gathered and analysed in May and summative data gathered in June and analysed in August to September. As in previous years the testing followed a standardized procedure (as much as possible) and the marking process included analysis, moderation, at a staff and syndicate level, and benchmarking. The attached reports comprise the AsTTLe Console Report, which compares our school with ‘all schools’ and ‘schools like ours’ (Normed Data) and Year Group Bar Graphs (Standards Data) generated from the asTTLe results

  • 2010 Numeracy Best Fit Levels (1 MB)
This is a relatively ‘soft’ assessment tool that relies on the teacher’s observations of a student’s ability using ‘I can sheets’. Teachers can also assess students in the one on one NUMPA test. Due to the time consuming (10 to 15 minutes per student) nature of ‘one on one’ assessments this tool is used sparingly. Nevertheless the Numeracy Best Fit Level gives a good indication of a student’s level of Number Knowledge and the sophistication of their Number Strategies. The norms and expectations used in these graphs have been supplied by the National Numeracy Facilitation Team. Due to the way that the Norms have been written we are only able to make comparisons by Year Group.
