Parent Representative and Acting Chairperson.
I have three children currently attending Waikanae School and am excited to be joining the Board of Trustees after the recent election. I love the strong sense of community in our school and am committed to doing all I can to help provide our children with a happy and stimulating primary school experience. As a parent representative I am always keen to hear the views of other parents, so do come and have a chat when you see me around the school. Elizabeth was elected by her fellow Board members to be Acting Chair through until the completion of the General Elections whereupon the position of Chairperson will be re -visited by the Board.

Hello my name is Louise Aitken.I have been a member of the Waikanae School Board Of Trustees for 18 months and I will be up for re election again in another 18 months.
Being on the board has shown me how complex it is to run a school like Waikanae. The most important things are our kids learning and enjoyment of their time at school, however there are hundreds of things to be considered to make sure that happens.
What I have tried to do is to bring the views of parents and families to our board discussions.A strength of having a Board Of Trustees is that the voice of the whole school community has a place to share in important decisions about our kids education.
I am involved in teaching music at school and so I am around the school most days.If you see me please feel free to let me know what is going well and where you think we can improve what we are doing for our children.
Louise Aitken.

In my time at Waikanae School I have seen 7 years of kids pass through its doors – it’s a busy place! There is a great need for children to be entertained while being educated, and that’s where I fit in. Going for class trips or taking them through a new media group, it all means for a new and exciting environment for them to work. My position on the Board of Trustees sees me being involved in property development. At this stage this includes building of new classrooms, hall, front offices and staff rooms. Keeping the school on track and governing on behalf of all the stakeholders is paramount to its success and one I want to be involved with.
